Summer 2026 Classes at The Theatre Project of Grand Junction

This summer, there’s a place for every performer to grow at The Theatre Project of Grand Junction. Whether your student is stepping onto the stage for the very first time, looking to strengthen dance technique, sharpen improvisation skills, or gain confidence performing in musicals, our Summer 2026 class lineup offers exciting opportunities for children, teens, and adults alike.

Classes begin the week of June 1, 2026 and run through August 7, 2026. Each 10-week course is $150 tuition.

Our instructors are experienced performers and educators who create encouraging, supportive environments where students can build skills, confidence, creativity, and stage presence while having fun.


Musical Theatre Dance Classes

Kids Musical Theatre Dance

Instructor: Rebecca Burr
Wednesdays: 7:00–8:00 PM
Ages: 8–12

Musical Theatre Dance for Kids is designed to help young performers build confidence in movement and dance technique. Students will learn foundational skills through fun, engaging combinations in a supportive environment. This class is especially ideal for performers who have focused primarily on singing and acting and want to become more comfortable dancing. Suitable for beginner to intermediate students.

Teen Musical Theatre Dance

Instructor: Mollie Wertman
Mondays: 6:00–7:00 PM
Ages: 13+

This one-hour class helps teen performers strengthen their dance skills while building confidence in movement. Students focus on foundational technique and learning combinations in a fun, encouraging environment. Perfect for beginner to intermediate performers who want to expand their musical theatre training.

Adult Musical Theatre Dance

Instructor: Dana Schmidt
Thursdays: 7:00–8:00 PM
Ages: 18+

Designed for adults of all experience levels, this class focuses on foundational technique, fun choreography combinations, and building confidence for musical theatre performance. It’s also a great workout and a welcoming way to stay active while connecting with the theatre community.


Technique Classes

Jumps and Turns

Instructor: Malory Christopher
Mondays: 7:00–8:00 PM
Ages: 13+

Students will strengthen technique, control, power, and precision while expanding their jumps and turns vocabulary in this high-intensity class. Ideal for dancers looking to refine and elevate their performance skills.


Tap Classes

Kids Tap Class

Instructor: Rebecca Burr
Tuesdays: 6:00–7:00 PM
Ages: 8–12

This fun and energetic class introduces young performers to tap dance as an exciting part of musical theatre. Students will build foundational technique while learning upbeat combinations in a supportive environment that encourages creativity and confidence.

Teen Tap

Instructors: Dana Schmidt and Malory Christopher
Tuesdays: 7:00–8:00 PM
Ages: 13–18

Teen Tap is a fast-paced class focused on rhythm, musicality, and advanced technique development. Designed for intermediate to advanced dancers, students will quickly learn and refine dynamic tap combinations while strengthening performance quality.

Adult Tap

Instructor: Dana Schmidt
Thursdays: 6:00–7:00 PM
Ages: 18+

This welcoming multi-level class is designed for beginner to intermediate adult students. Participants will build tap skills through engaging combinations while enjoying a supportive atmosphere and a great workout. Beginner teen tappers are also welcome.


Young Performer Classes

Little Steps to Broadway

Instructor: Olivia Burr
Tuesdays: 5:15–6:00 PM
Ages: 5–7

Our youngest performers will explore the basics of musical theatre through singing, dancing, creativity, and play. Students will build confidence while learning simple songs and choreography, culminating in a short informal performance at the end of the session.


Improvisation Classes

Kids Acting Improvisation

Instructor: Olivia Burr
Wednesdays: 6:00–7:00 PM
Ages: 8–12

Through games and creative exercises, students will learn acting basics while developing confidence, character work, and improvisation skills in a supportive and engaging environment.

Teen Improvisation

Instructor: Olivia Burr
Tuesdays: 6:00–7:00 PM
Ages: 12–18

Teen performers will strengthen their ability to stay present, think on their feet, and explore character through improvisational games and exercises designed to build confidence and creativity.

Adult Improvisation

Instructor: Olivia Burr
Mondays: 6:00–7:00 PM
Ages: 18+

This engaging class helps adult performers strengthen improvisation skills, confidence, spontaneity, and character work through games and collaborative exercises. Ideal for beginners and experienced performers alike.


Theatre Education for Parents and Adults

Parents’ Theatre 101

Instructor: Dana Schmidt
Wednesdays: 7:00–8:00 PM
Ages: 18+

Ever wondered what goes into producing a show? Theatre 101 offers adults and parents a behind-the-scenes look at community theatre. Topics include lighting, sound, choreography, directing, costumes, sets, licensing, and the business side of theatre production. It’s a wonderful opportunity to better understand the theatre experience while learning how productions come together.
