Full-Day Theatre Camp
Ages 8–18
Full-Day Theatre Camp is perfect for students who want a full immersive theatre experience. Campers spend the week rehearsing, creating characters, learning performance techniques, working with props and costumes, and bringing original stories to life.
This camp is a great fit for students searching for a summer theater camp, acting camp, drama camp, theatre camp, or performing arts summer camp. Whether your child has performed in numerous productions or this is their first time trying theatre, they will receive encouragement and individual attention from experienced instructors.

Half-Day Theatre Camp
Ages 6–8
Half-Day Theatre Camp is an exciting introduction to theatre designed especially for younger performers. Through imaginative play, storytelling, movement, character creation, and theatre games, campers build confidence in a fun and age-appropriate environment.
This camp is perfect for children who enjoy pretending, creating stories, making new friends, and expressing themselves in positive ways.

Learn From Experienced Theatre Educators
Our degreed instructors bring experience in theatre education, performance, and working with young performers. Every member of our camp staff believes that theatre should be welcoming, encouraging, and accessible to every child.
Campers receive individualized encouragement while learning in a positive environment that celebrates creativity, effort, and teamwork.
Dana Schmidt is the heart of the program. Co-founding the organization in 2007, she has worked tirelessly to make sure that everyone is included, watching the program grow from its tiny beginning and shepherding it through many growing pains to where it is today. Her training and experience show in everything the Theatre Project produces, including the summer camps, where she supervises the dedicated, hard-working staff.
In addition to playing Burt in Mary Poppins and Anthony in Sweeney Todd, Gabe Gallegos (Youth and Education Manager) is also the director of the Level 3 shows in our Steps to Broadway theatre program for young performers. Following his outstanding work on Newsies and Les Miserables most recently, he will be directing Matilda starting in August for our Fall season.
Hunter Mendoza brings his multiple years of experience performing and as a production assistant, with roles such as Beadle in Sweeney Todd and Earthworm in James and the Giant Peach. He has also served as assistant director for several shows at the Art Center.
Rebecca Burr, our new Level 2 director, will be directing Aristocats KIDS in the fall. She has been performing with the Theatre Project since she moved to the Grand Valley as a child, playing Cinderella and Rapunzel in Into the Woods, the Cosette in Les Miserables, Mary in Mary Poppins, and Ariel in Footloose. Her dance classes are among the most popular at the Theatre Project.
Amelia Burr is one of our music directors and vocal coaches. She brings 15 years of experience performing in musical theatre, with leading roles as the Blue Fairy in Disney’s My Son Pinnochio, Madame Thenardier in Les Miserables, Anybody in West Side Story, The Witch in Into the Woods, Ladybug in James and the Giant Peach, Joanna in Sweeney Todd, and Sister Mary Amnesia in Nunsense.
Olivia Burr has been acting and singing from a young age, training at Performing Arts San Antonio, Studio 24 in Folsom, CA, and Film Acting Bay Area in Emeryville, CA. She is known for her sketch comedy performances with the Humor Code at BYUI, which she also co-managed. Her lead roles include Bandala in Ug the Caveman Musical, Geppetto in My Son Pinnochio, Fiona in Shrek, and Rusty in Footloose.

What should campers bring?
All campers should bring a water bottle. Full-day campers should bring lunch. Half-day campers should bring a snack and drink.
How does drop-off and pick-up work?
Campers should be dropped off via the car line at the front of the school, which is clearly marked. At Independence Academy, the car line will be in front of the performing arts building (bear left as you come up the drive). The same car line will be used at the end of the day for pick-up. Afternoon session half-day campers may accompanied by their parents in order to enter the glass doors (please ring the bell).
